About RubyConf Brazil
RubyConf Brazil is the largest Ruby focused conference in South America and it's comparable in size to the top large tech conferences in the continent.
It began when Fabio Akita (a.k.a. @AkitaOnRails) joined Locaweb in 2008 and together they delivered the Rails Summit Latin America conference. That first event was able to gather more than 550 attendees and bring more than 20 speakers for 2 full days with 2 parallel tracks and real-time translation for the audience to enjoy all the talks they could consume.
They repeated the success in 2009 with another Rails Summit and in 2010, the Latin America market seemed prepared for a first change, therefore Rails Summit was changed to RubyConf Brazil where more than 700 attendees were able to enjoy an even broader range of talk subjects.
Several reknowned names in the international Ruby community came to Brazil already such as Chad Fowler, Rich Kilmer, David Chelimsky, Aaron Patterson, Evan Phoenix, Charles Nutter, Yehuda Katz, Jim Weirich, Matt Aimonetti, Obie Fernandez, Glenn Vanderburg, Chris Wanstrath, Ninh Bui, Hongli Lai, Dr. Nic, and others.

RubyConf Brazil 2011
Again in 2011, we were able to deliver another breakthrough conference. More than 750 attendees were able to see 2 full days of 2 parallel tracks with 32 talks, more than 500 people were able to watch online in real time, thanks to Eventials. We had people from all around the world and we appreciate everybody that attended and collaborated to create yet another remarkable event.
