If you’ve never been in the city before, some useful information about the region:

  • The summit will be at Frei Caneca St., which crosses Paulista Ave. one of the most well known places in Brazil because of its intense business concentration.
  • The name of the neighborhood is Cerqueira Cesar in the Central Zone of the city. Paulista Ave. runs parallel to the underground Green line of the Metro system. You can reach many places of the city using the Metro.
  • The city is divided in 5 main regions, North, South, West, East and Central Zones. If you want to walk around the city it is most likely that you will be around the South, West and Center Zones.
  • The central region of the city is surrounded by the Tietê River, starting from the North Zone and changing name to Pinheiros River on the West and South Zones. The inner area is usually known as the “Expanded Central Zone”.
  • The city grown from the Central Zone which is also known as the Old Central Zone. The Paulista Ave. is approximately in the middle of the Expanded Central Zone, having the Old Central Zone in one side and the New Central Zone on the other. Those are not official names, some people just call them like that. The architecture of the Old Central Zone reminds past decades, the New Central Zone concentrates the more contemporary architectures.
  • Crossing the city is a very long trip. Depending on traffic it can take as long as an 1 hour. Carefully evaluate your trip schedule and know where do you want to go.
  • Use web resources and tourism guides such as Trip Advisor to figure out the coolest places that you want to visit. It is very recommended that you plan ahead of time, because the city is so big that you can easily spend the entire day walking around without properly visiting anything. And remember, Google Maps is your friend.
